Microsoft começa a lançar código (quase) open source

While many people see Microsoft as the "enemy" of open source, Microsoft has in fact been busy learning from open source, and has released source code for more than eighty Microsoft projects under a "shared source" license. More on Google's master plan | Between the Lines | ZDNet.com

To some extent, Google is bringing back the architecture of the mainframe to render Microsoft obsolete. In the future, all computing devices, whether it be the PC, mobile phone, TV, etc., will simply be terminals that plug-in to Google's massive server grid and application services. With the increasing price/performance of CPUs, memory, bandwidth, and storage, Google’s strategic edge will be based on their advantageous cost of processing bits. And as long as users are comfortable sharing their private data and behavior with Google, all services will remain free (and supported by advertising).

SOFTWARE GIANT Microsoft has pulled the ability of pirates to get upgrades to its super soaraway software from its website.

We told you last year that it was gradually introducing this scheme.

Those attempting to download any upgrade from www.microsoft.com are first forced to download a bit of active X software which sniffs around and looks to see if you have used a registration number that you shouldn’t.

Microsoft Loses Key Engineer to Google

to falando... do slashdot:
Microsoft Watch reports Marc Lucovsky, one of Microsoft's key Windows architects has defected to Google. His confidence in Microsoft's ability to ship software seems to have waned, too. Some hypothesize Google working on an OS but in the wake of Google's inroads into Ajax tech applications (GMail, Suggest, Maps), I think Google may have other plans for the chief software architect for Microsoft's .Net
