The Cult of iPod

Steve Jobs estava errado...

Ver vídeos no novo iPod dá onda

The biggest surprise: watching video on the tiny, 2.5-inch screen (320 by 240 pixels) is completely immersive. Three unexpected factors are at work. First, the picture itself is sharp and vivid, with crisp action that never smears; the screen is noticeably brighter than on previous iPods. Second, because the audio is piped directly into your ear sockets, it has much higher fidelity and presence than most people's TV sets. Finally, remember that a 2.5-inch screen a foot from your face fills as much of your vision as a much larger screen that's across the room.

Playlist: Handhelds compared: video iPod vs. PSP

It plays music. It displays photos. Oh, and you can watch video on it, too. No, it’s not the newly unveiled video iPod—this is the Sony PlayStation Portable. And while the PSP has a very different core function—it’s a portable video game console, first and foremost—the are enough similarities between it and the latest round of iPods to merit a side-by-side comparison.

The Clicker: Apple's real plan for iPod video? - Engadget

So why include video at all? Steve Jobs has long maintained that a video iPod wasn't a good idea. He’s firmly dismissed the market for such a player. Why backpedal now? Could it be that this is Apple's attempt to steer the still nascent market right to their front door?

Video iPod plus Front Row: Media Center killer, or shoulder-shrug? | The Register

Five big issues to be dealt with, in turn:
1) Crippled is the new flexible!
2) Low-quality and portable? That must beat actually being good, right?
3) Paid-for is the new free.
4) We've never heard of this "Yoorp" of which you speak.
5) No, the phrase "exchange rate" means nothing to me.

Think Secret - New iPod, iMac, iTunes 6, and more

At Apple's media event Wednesday the company rolled out a new iPod with a larger screen and video playback, introduced a new iMac line with media center-like features, and iTunes 6.
Steve Jobs sempre dá um show.

Conto pra vocês no próximo podcast.

The Register: iPod Nano vs washing machine: who wins?

"The Nano is light enough that it turns out you can't really tell when it's in a shirt pocket and when it's not," explains Jon. "On this Saturday morning it was, and unfortunately the shirt was in the washer. I got ahold of it after about a minute in the dryer, so the little white contraption had already experienced a warm wash, cool rinse and exciting spin cycle.

Slashdot | Behind The Development Of The iPod nano

A Time Magazine article on the behind-the-scenes development of the iPod nano reveals that development work began just nine months ago, when the iPod mini was still a top-seller.

It was a gutsy play, and it came from the gut: unlike almost any other high-tech company, Apple refuses to run its decisions by focus groups."
